What inspires me?
Whenever I look outside I cannot help but be inspired by nature. Whether I am in an urban area or driving on rural backroads, I see so much beauty as colors combinations occur naturally; in how anthropogenic and untouched factors interact; and how thousands of plants are able to thrive in so many different conditions. I always feel inspired by the shapes, movements, and colors of the world around me, especially in nature. My Concentration concept: My concentration focuses on if the world were left natural. Suppose plants were allowed to roam freely? I strive to visually represent how plants could interact with people, places, and things from the world today. These images are sometimes utopian, and sometimes literal areas of this idea already in the world. Technique: I explored how this idea would look by taking photos of places where plants are already taking over, and also by interspersing plants into potential locations or figures where this could occur. I used a multitude of media to create visually pleasing and interesting ideas, including: Watercolor, Pen and Ink, Acrylic, Oil, Embroidery, Colored Pencil, and Collaging with everything from paper to dried plants. |
